Two active young kids enjoyed windsurfing here at LCS. Jakob was completely new to windsurfing but his enthusiasm and performance after the two-day practice really surprised us; while Jules, the boy who likes almost all watersports, learnt windsurfing from his father, but found it even more fun when he sailed with his friends together!

It was a sunny North wind day in Cheung Sha again, and the wind was blowing till whole day. Hau was out again on his 4.0m + 93L and felt the wind definitely stronger than the day before. While Brad's nickname is Bad Brad, and now Matt got his new nickname as Mad Matt, who was on his 3.7m sail in the morning, and switched to 4.5m in the afternoon. What a super dedicated windsurfer! Kenji was also out on his 4.4m in the afternoon, and he was so happy with his first successful carving jibe!

Once again it was a good north wind day in Cheung Sha, and 4.5m was the optimum size, which the wind blew constantly in the morning until noon, dropped a bit for around 2 hours, and then picked up again from around 3:00pm until dark. Hau, Brad, Matt & Kenji enjoyed much!

It's starting to get cold in December, but there was always something happening at LCS...
Hong and his friends spent two days' holiday at LCS in early December. They went to fish, BBQ, played some card games, and enjoyed a relaxing break from work.
The beach was still full of action. The Kiteboard Tour Asia was hosted at Cheung Sha, and one day we saw over 20 kites in the sky! Besides, we also had Alza coming back to learn windsurfing, and of course there were also a few good days with nice wind for us to enjoy.
Although the temperature has dropped a bit, we still found it warmer by the beach than in the city most of the time, which made here a perfect location for a family day out. We had here the Rushton family, who arranged an overnight visit for their daughter and her friends. Max and Louis were always our beach regulars and they enjoyed beach bowling so much! Brad's family came from all the way from London and enjoyed so much of the sunshine on the beach.
We also celebrated our X'mas with friends, which we arranged a cozy BBQ and some fun games for everyone to share.

Allan and his friends came to LCS today and celebrated their graduation. Not only were they prepared to go into the water, they were also ready to become a culinary master! Today they joined our pizza class, and were involved in every step from kneading the dough, to preparing and arranging the ingredients. At the end of the day, everyone could enjoy the freshly baked pizzas created by their own hands, which were exceptionally yummy!

After one whole week of non-stopping high wind, the North monsoon finally started to lessen a bit on Sunday. Today, the windsufers from Stanley came early in the morning, hoping to enjoy one more day of good windsurfing after their adrenalin-pumping session the day before. The beautiful sunshine and the perfect North wind shone the day!
P.S. Check out our new extended campground - Windsurfers now found it a lot more comfortable and convenient to rig their gears on grassland!

We got eight good wind days in two weeks' period in mid November. The monstrously big north wind started to blow from Nov 13. Throughout the whole week, the wind was between 30-60 knots, meaning that we mostly used sails between 3.7 and 4.5 sq.m. Same as ever, the hardcore condition did not discourage our brave-hearted sailors. Among all, Matt must be one of the luckiest guys, coz he could spend almost the whole week here, combating the hi-wind, trying his new sail and grasping all the fun!

Great to see Mindy's triumphant performance today, especially when she could do beautiful tacks all the time!

After a busy mid-autumn Saturday night, the light North wind on Sunday morning was able to bring some fun for the wind lovers. Not only did we windsurf, but also sailed on a Hobie which was a great experience!
At night, the LCS team finally could sit down, relax ourselves and enjoyed a cozy BBQ, and here came the craziest idea - to go on windsurfing in a full moon night! The team of six set up some beginner gears, put on fluorescent rings everywhere, and and off we went! The north wind blew stronger and stronger and we could even plan on 4m beginning sails. Meanwhile, a belated birthday party was held by Carrie for her friends in the evening. She booked our place early in June but couldn't come due to typhoons. The group finally could make it and enjoyed a beautiful evening BBQ get-together.
P.S. The nomadic windsurfers from Stanley once again arrived at Cheung Sha for the good wind season here! Check out their whole load of windsurf gear and our new extension - the team was enthusiastic about parking their gear at our newly-built, private storage shelves!

Another bonus day! Since the rain stopped at around 1:30pm, some northerly breeze has started to wake us up. While no one believed that it would continue to blow constantly, Oba and Hau were the first ones to go into the water. Realising that the wind was blowing so firmly without any sign of dropping, Kenji and Philippe joined together. At 4:00pm, the wind dropped a bit for half hour, but when the wind picked up again at around 5:00, all went out again until dark.
It was one of the best days again.

The wind was crazy this morning. So many wind lovers visited LCS today despite the cold weather.
Iron man Ah-Kwink was out 2 hours with 3.7m sail + 93 board in the morning, and switched to 5.0m in the afternoon. He was for sure the happiest among the whole group today.
Flo was out with Kwink on his 4.5m sail, while Matt was with his 4.5m cam sail in the morning, which was a little bit overpowered.
A few Cheung Chau windsurfers came today, but their 5m+/- sails were just too big to enjoy the strong breeze in the morning until the wind died down a bit from noon.
In the afternoon, Chiu Yan started to get use to the condition here with the 4.0m sail + 100L board. Tat enjoyed a nice 4.5m session with his most favorite Skate board, and Philippe was so happy with his 4.5m sail. What an awesome New Year present from our mother nature!

The first day was a light wind prelude while everyone used sail sizes around 7m as to warm up; the second day was an all-day fun with all used 6m+/- in the morning and some 7m in the afternoon; while the third day was definitely a super bonus - only the strongest sailors can challenge the big strong gale with small sails of 5m.

If anyone was at LCS on February 2, braving the strong 30-knot wind using sails of 4.5m+/-, with 2 wetsuits on, at 7 degrees which was equivalent to 0 - 1 degree under the wind chill effect, they would admit that it was like heaven on February 3, with sunny, warm weather, as well as strong and steady wind. Guys all used sails range from 4.7 to 5.5m, and had a very enjoyable 2.5-hour session in the morning. After lunch, sails of 6m+ were some good sizes to pick the gust for another 2 hours.
By the way, these guys were not just windsurfers, but were professional models; posing every minute from the time they rigged their sails, got ready to go, and when they were planning full speed in the water!

The wind at Cheung Sha can sometimes be crazy. On Monday, the typhoon-like north wind blew all day from early morning till 4pm - only dropping a bit for a short while at noon time. Most of the time, using sails of 4.5m was quite overpowered inside the gust. And until around 4:30pm, sail size of 4.5m was still way over-sized like crazy. Some friends from Cheung Chau also rented a boat to come joining us to enjoy such a great day. They anchored outside of Cheung Sha beach and jumped directly into the water from there. **Shark nets finally removed!!!**
On Tuesday, the wind blew even stronger. No words could describe such conditions...

The funny thing about southeasterly wind is that, it blows most of the time at noon time. If the wind is blowing mild easterlies in the morning, there might be high chances that the wind will turn southeast in the afternoon. It will not be very strong, but this constant breeze will provide some good fun on big sails for some hours. Today, Magali, Yves, Ricky and Dilys caught this good time and kept tuning up their skills.

People start windsurfing probably because they want to try on a new sport. They find it more interesting when they feel the freedom cruising in the open sea. They will be hooked to windsurfing when they learn every new trick. They can't leave the board when they have their first taste of speedy action in water. Then everyday will be a windsurfing day.

Eight people. Five windsurf students. What would they do together when they were not windsurfing? Tonight, a bunch of crazy guys enjoyed a relaxing night with food, wine, guitar and old songs.

This week, we met Patrick and Gail. They both work for "Semester At Sea", which operates study abroad voyages round the world. They just arrived from Japan and would stay at Hong Kong for 2 days before heading to their next stop - Vietnam, and were able to enjoy much water sport during their break. What an interesting job with a very rewarding experience!

We had some old friends coming to visit us from Stanley. Most of them are experienced windsurfers and we've known each other for many years. At night, we enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, some nice chat and a midnight BBQ... The next day, they got up at 6am and were just too eager to try out this new spot!

The early coming North wind this weekend has brought so much fun to LCS. Since Saturday, windsurfers have enjoyed three days of continuous blasting in the flat water condition, using small sails size 3.7 to 5.5 sq.m. Spectators wouldn't feel bored for they were so amazed by the speedy action and marvelous tricks!

There has always been a misconception that windsurfing is a "men" sports which requires lots of physical strength - like you are pulling or carrying heavy stuff or pumping all the time. With more and more ladies joining our windsurfing class, you'll know windsurfing's meant to be "fun"... Magali, Jingle, Ciric, Isabelle, Catherine, Kristine, Winnie... keep on!!! We hope to see you blasting in the sea this coming winter :)

Seven Japanese windsurfers got stuck at the Hong Kong International Airport because of the typhoon. They could not find a place to stay and had to stay at the airport for the night. Finally they managed to come to LCS and we had a really good time. They were really very good windsurfers and instructors. We shared fun and laughter together. Thank you Makoto, Toru, Emi, Jun (Mouse Man), Yoshi, Tomo and Ken... We will miss you all and we hope we will see each other very soon. "MADA NE!!"

The wave condition was so fierce, no windsurfers and surfers attempted to go out the sea at Cheung Sha, but there was a good show by a pro kitesurfer - Mike.

Chiu & family from New Jersey came to visit LCS this week. Although Sam and Dorothy were the first time to know windsurfing, they both did very well in the 2-day lessons while their parents kept accompanying them by enjoying paddling around them. Although the wind and weather condition in New Jersey is not so favorable for this sports, we hope they can remember what they learn this year. See you all next summer!

Our little warrior - Claudia - went on her first windsurfing exploration. Claudia will be turning ten this year, and has been very enthusiastic in windsurfing since the last school sports promotion. Today, she tried to stand on the board for the first time and do some cruising! Well done Claudia and we would love to see her enjoying more of windsurfing in the coming days!

Typhoon Chanchu has brought a good supply of Northerly wind this weekend. It was good news for the wind lovers, but it was also a bad news to us because the kayaks can hardly go out. At the end, our kayak tour to Shui Hou needed to be called off.
While the windsurfers have expected that there were also some good North wind this Sunday, they arrived early at LCS, only to find that the wind did not last long. But there is nothing to be disappointed, as the weather turned out warm and sunny, and our guests enjoyed a great afternoon. |

Good sunny day. We had a windsurfing family coming to visit us. "DAI TOU MUI" has been quite famous in the windsurfing circle. She is only 9 but she has quite some time of windsurfing experience. All the kids tried on the big beginner board with a 2.0m sails on the calm water condition. Thank you "DAI TOU MUI" and "NGAU TSAI" for the lovely picture!

It was the Easter holiday, and it was unpredictably COLD! The temperature dropped down 10 degrees to 13 degrees because of the sudden cold front from the North. Although it was cold, the windsurfers had some good fun because the North wind blowing down from the Lantau and Sunset Peak provided a perfect condition for them. They generally used sails with size from 5.0m to 6.0m on April 13, from 6.0m to 8.0m on April 14; and on April 15, we even tried to use a 3.7m in the morning - which was crazy!
